The United States constitution was written in 1787 during the Philadelphia Convention. The weaknesses of the Articles of confederations leading to the writing of the constitution was due to the lack of power. The weaknesses of the of the nation government was that they had no power to tax, raise taxes its own taxes, raise its own troops, or to regulate trade.
Under the Articles of Confederations of federal government had very little power as well as no judicial branch. When states had conflicts, there was no arbitrator to judge or enforce solutions to problems. Therefore, the founding fathers decided that a stronger federal government was needed causing the constitution to be written.
The Constitution’s weaknesses were fixed when Congress was given the ability to regulate trade between states and other countries. It introduced creation of a federal court system as well as an executive branch with power of checks and balances for legislature and judiciary.
