"The President's Own" United States Marine Band performed Monday October 2,

2006 at 8pm in the PAC. The director was Lieutenant Colonel Michael J. Colburn and the

assistant director was Captain Jason K. Fettig. The different numbers in the performance

were "Summon the Heroes", "Guillaume Tell Duo Brillant", "The High School Cadets",

"Scherzo and Finale" from Symphony No. 4 in F minor, "Semper Fidelis", "Lincolnshire

Posy", "American Spirituals", and "The Stars and Stripes Forever". The different

instruments played were flutes, clarinets, saxophone, cornets/trumpets, horns, trombones,

tubas, bass, and keyboard. There were other instruments used that used but I was not able

to identify them. When I looked at the pamphlet they were piccolo, oboe, bassoon,

euphonium, and percussion. I didn't know there were different types of clarinets.

I thought the performance was interesting. I went in not really knowing what to

expect. I didn't that the event was so formal, that the band would be so big, and that it

was such a popular event. The band was dressed in their marine attire and looked very

organized
