Supplementary Angles                Obtuse Angle                            Complementary Angles

Examples of Complementary and Supplementary Angles

a. 70° b.140°

SOLUTION

Give the complement and the supplement of each angle.

  1. The complement of 70° is 20° since 70° + 20° = 90°.  The supplement of 70° is 110° since 70° + 110° = 180°.
  2. The complement of 140° is 􏰄-50° since 140°+ (-50°) = 90°.  The supplement of 140° is 40° since 140° + 40° = 180°.   [pic 10][pic 11]
