1. "You must pursue this investigation of Watergate even if it leads to the president. I'm innocent. You've got to believe I'm innocent. If you don't, take my job."

-Richard M. Nixon

Nixon urged the pursuit of the investigation and suggested that if his job is not taken he must be innocent. Obviously he was guilty if he would rather resign then be impeached. If he was as innocent as he said he wouldn't be afraid to stand and finish an impeachment trial and still hold his job.

2. "Watergate provides a model case study of the interaction and powers of each of the branches of government. It also is a morality play with a sad and dramatic ending. "

-Bob Woodward

Woodward says that Watergate is a good example of how the powers of each branch of government work together to check each other. But, it is also a lesson on morals that ends sadly by coming to the conclusion that the U.S. had a president that lied and tried to cheat the system.

3. "An attempt is already underway to revise history - to leave the impression that the former president had nothing to do with Watergate. But there is no doubt about his obstruction of justice after the Watergate break-in."
