What Caused the Great Depression?

The Great Depression was one of the most tragic event that ever happened in American History. There were many occasions that caused the Great Depression, however, the main reasons were because of Credit, The Stock Market Crash, Overproduction, and unemployment. The 1930’s was a hard time for American’s, they were struggling with many things throughout those years. About 12 million died as a result from this trauma, but no one is exactly sure what caused it. Till this day it is still a debate to what really caused the Great Depression.

Before the Great Depression happened, people were living in the 1920’s, it was an era where nobody cared and all they loved to do was spend their money and party. There were many who were spending on whatever they could lay their hands on, which is what made them lose so much money. Credit was a big deal to them, but what they didn’t realize is they were buying with money they did not have. During those years technology was big, workers were trying to come up with new products that everyone would love, in other words, they wanted something that everyone would buy. Later on credit was tightened it weakened the government and led to the Stock Market Crash.

Another event that led to the Stock Market Crash was the overproduction and the Dust Bowl. The Dust Bowl was a time in the 1930’s, where the Southern Plains region of the U.S were in a drought. Imagine high winds of dust just flying through your town and destroying your homes and livestock. It caused families to leave and migrate while searching for work and better living conditions.
