Corruption in Animal Farm
The book Animal Farm starts with a group of animals who are being treated badly organizing a revolution in order to all be treated equally and fairly. It ends with most of the animals being treated even more unfairly than they were to start with and the group that seized power acting just like the original oppressors. Why does this happen? I think the answer is corruption. The world would be a wonderful place if everyone had what they need to live and the same of amount of “extras” that everyone else has. That was the idea behind communism. But it just doesn’t seem to work. People are competitive and work only as hard as they have to get what they want
Most communist countries do not seem to be prosperous, and usually have an elite class that has more “stuff” than the rest of the populace. People always want more than their neighbors have. If you have a 27” TV. and your neighbor has a 52” TV., then you might want a 52” TV. too. With surround sound. If your neighbor is a streetsweeper and you are a doctor, chances are that you worked harder to become a doctor than your neighbor did to become a street sweeper. If you both make the same amount of money, you might start to wonder why you bothered.
