The story happens in the 1930’s in England. It’s about a woman named Joan Plumleigh-Bruce who lives with her maid Mary in a house. Her two best friends are the single man Donald Stimpson and the married guy Major Leonard Parry. Mr Stimpson has the intention to marry Mrs Plumleigh-Bruce, so he meets her frequently. One day, Ralph Gorse come and begins to talk with all them. Ralph Gorse wants to profit of Mrs Plumleigh-Bruce. He manipulates her with some dates. He’s always in competition with Mr Stimpson. Ralph Gorse invites Mr Stimpson and makes him drunk. Then, he listens all his secrets and repeats them to Mrs Plumleigh-Bruce. Mrs Plumleigh-Bruce accepts Gorse’s marriage proposition and he robs her 500 pounds. Mr Stimpson heards about the marriage and marries Mary who is Mrs Plumleigh-Bruce’s maid. Joan Plumleigh-Bruce asks Major Parry for help. Major Parry and his wife come sometimes to help from this time. Gorse flies away and buys a new car. The last sentence let me suppose that he will die in a car accident.
Mrs Plumleigh-Bruce is 43 years old. She is very naпve. She’s a little bit snob and easy to manipulate if you compliment her. She will never go to the police
