The False Gems by Guy De Maupassant

To begin with the text I would first like to explain the title itself 'the false gems' further in the story we realise that the gems which M Lanvin the protagonist of the story believes to be fake were in reality real and the wife he considered the perfect virtuous women a man could have was infact fake and was having an affair with another man who had presented her with these gems.
