A Day at Work

What I like about work is that it can be fun, easy and challenging. What I dislike about work is at times it can be boring repetitive and annoying. I myself like my job but at times I cant stand it. Working at a bank is a love hate relationship, which changes day to day.

I am a head teller at Pnc Bank in Asbury Park. I arrive at about 830 AM in the morning. I am usually the first one in the parking lot were Debbie and Milton meet me shortly after. I follow our opening procedure then I let them in. I am the head teller and the first thing I do is make sure no one is in the bank before letting every one in. Once my co workers and I are in the building we begin getting ready to open.

First, I usually put the first half of all the combinations to the safes in the branch. We are not allowed to have the entire combo just half. After we are open I head to the ATM room and start to "prove" it. In layman's terms this means I count it out. I also get what ever deposits any one did out the machine and log them. I take my time doing this because it is important it is done right. After I am done it's back to helping clients for a few hours until I do reports.

I like my job because most of my clients and co-workers make my day. They are funny and are very helpful. For instance, there is a client that I have who loves us and thinks we are so helpful that whenever he doesn't use his season tickets to Nets and Yankees games he gives them to my co-workers and me. It is always four tickets with free parking to either event or game. Others like Mrs. Lynch bringing us brownies every Tuesday, or Rose who always calls all of us "kid" and is so sweet. I feel like they don't just bank with us but are our friends as well and make my day go bye so much better.

The down side to the job is helping the impatient people and those who don't speak English or Spanish. I work in Asbury and we get a lot of Hation speaking people. It's very hard to help them efficiently because they don't understand the English language or how the bank works and its policies and procedures. The most annoying thing at work is when people don't wait in line and they come up to me and throw their transactions in my face. I usually try to stay cool and professional but sometimes they are so rude you don't want to deal with them.

I like the challenges my job has. It is what makes it exciting because transactions get
