Abraham Maslow believed that people satisfy their needs in a fashion of hierarchy of levels. In this paper I will be discussing Maslow's famous hierarchy of needs using information found both in our text book and information written by Dr. William Huitt. I will also be discussing why I chose to use Dr. Huitt's website for a reference and his credentials and how the information given on the website compares to that in the book.

Dr. William G. Huitt is currently a professor of psychology and counseling at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. His education includes a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and a M.Ed. In Business Education from the University of Florida and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of South Alabama. For over 34 years he has been an educator of psychology with teaching experience ranging from middle school to graduate school. Dr. Huitt has over 28 published works including many articles, research studies, and books. Many of his works are directly related to his area of expertise, psychology.

The credentials of Dr. Huitt have been verified by way of contacting the personnel department of Valdosta University and also by way of locating several of his published works. The website specifically used in this paper, "Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs" is "sponsored" Valdosta University. The goals of Valdosta University, are the same goals as any university, as they function to provide an education to and life experience for their students. After having researched Valdosta University via several college raking sources, all signs indicate that it is a highly reputable university.
