Fire Rescue Scenario
Fire incidents in the US have been in rise over the year 2014. According to Haynes (2015), the public fire departments responded to 1,298,000 fires in 2014 which recorded a 4.7 % increase from the previous year. Of the documented fire occurrences, 494,000 fires occurred in structures while 167,500 fires occurred in highway-type vehicles. The number of civilian individuals who died in fire incidents were 3,275 in 2014 where 2,745 deaths occurred in home structures and 310 civilians died in highway vehicle fires. Individuals are always educated to respond to fire outbreaks. The individuals are advised to have functional fire extinguishers and fire alarms installed in their structures, alert every one and call for help and try to look for possible escapes to deal and handle fire incidences (City Fire Protection, 2012)
On May 15, 2014, the Andersonville fire department received a call on the fire outbreak in Andersonville elementary school. The station planned to evacuate students and staffs from tall buildings by use of ladders and ferry the casualties from school premises to the nearby hospital via ambulances. The unaffected students and staffs were escorted to the Andersonville fire station and Andersonville post office to ensure their safety and welfare.
