Global Communications is currently suffering from economic pressure in the telecommunications industry. The company stock has depreciated by about fifty percent. The stockholders are questioning the companies ability to rebound from this happening. In this century many local, long-distance and international markets are all competing for the same business. More cable companies are now offering a bundle package which consists of cable, phone, and internet services. One of the opportunities that Global Communications have come up with is to form an alliance with a satellite provider to offer video services as well as broadband services. This will appeal to and help attract more business consumers and will help their target market grow. They are also planning to outsource some of their technical call centers to India and Ireland which will help them to reduce their unit cost for handling call by almost forty percent.
Stakeholder Perspectives/Ethical Dilemmas
The stakeholders in this scenario consists of Global Communications, the Union, and the employees. Global Communications is comprised of Katrina Heinz, Sy Rodriguez, Nancy Everhardt, and Joel Thompson. Global communication basically looks out for the companies well being and the Union takes care of the employees. One of the major ethical dilemmas that they are facing as a company is not having effective communication in the workplace. Lack of communication can make a company fall apart. The first failure of communication was not letting the Union know about the outsourcing plan so therefore, the employees her the news through "The Grapevine." By the rumors spreading about the company planning to outsource made the employees mad at Maria who in fact did not know the results of the plan either. End-State Vision
Global Communications can increase their consumer market by outsourcing to other countries which will lower their production costs. If they can increase their global presence while at the same time lower and cutting cost they will reach their goal. They will get more satisfied customers and their stocks will then increase as a result. By communicating more effectively with everyone, the Union and the employees they can prevent thing like this from happening in the future. Falling to communicate properly can cause a company to go under.
