International Restaurant Assignment
Introduction
My international restaurant experience took place on October 16, 2007 at 6:00 pm. My group, which included Stephanie Coates, Devin Floyd and I attended a Japanese restaurant called Osaka Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar. I had never been to this restaurant so I was extremely excited.
Social Ambiance
The restaurant was located on the corner of a shopping plaza and it was currently being renovated. There were benches for the customers to sit and wait in front of the restaurant. As we entered the restaurant, the sounds of oriental music filled the atmosphere. We were greeted immediately upon entrance and were asked whether we wanted sushi or hibachi; since everyone from our party was not on time we had to wait until they arrived. They waitress prompted us to have a few drinks at the bar while we waited for the rest of our classmates. I believe that this had a lot to do with the Japanese culture. From this I perceived that in the Japanese culture, dinnertime is a very relaxing time, a time to drink and converse.
