Is Wal-Mart Good for America
Imagine if didn’t have a store where you can buy grocery, houseware, furniture, clothes and get your car work on. Well at Walmart you can purchases all these item at this one retail store. Some might say Walmart is bad while other may say it good for America. In my essay, you will find out why I believe that Walmart is good for America. David Faber says it best {Wal-Mart is a near-perfect example of capitalism, which itself can bring both good and bad.} Wal-Mart is dedicated to low price for consumers in America. Wal-Mart low price has an effect not only on their employee but also the industries that are trying to stay in business.
Sam Walton believed running a successful business boil down to 10 simple rules and they have help Walmart become a global leader. In 1962, he opens his first store in Rogers, Arkansas where now he has over 4,177 stores in the U.S. he has employs over 1.4 million people in the United States. Walmart has given a lot of low income families jobs. They offer benefits to their employee where that tax payers pay part of the healthcare cost for their employees. Many would say that Wal-Mart benefits is too high for people who are making minimum wage. I must say I agree with this fact with all the money Wal-Mart makes they can offer better benefits to their employee. In 2014 Wal-Mart started their employee off at $ 9.00 in 2015 they call they self-giving their employee a raise it wasn’t much but it went from $9.00 to 10.00. I think it could have been better looking at the money they make a year. Over one year Wal-Mart makes $14.7 billion a year in profits and $482 billion a year in total revenue. So now I ask myself can Wal-Mart do more for the community they have put their stores in? I must say yes, they can give a whole lot back to the community they must look at how much of our tax payer’s money go back
