GCSE Maths Coursework Guidelines
The following guidelines are suggestions for how to tackle a piece of coursework in Maths. They reflect the marking criteria that is sent from the exam board:
Introduction
Describe the problem you have been set - often giving an example will help here.
Describe how you are going to tackle the problem. If you can, suggest why your method is a sensible.
Collect the Results
Obtain the information needed - in a clear and organised way.
Think about different ways you can present your results : table, graph, etc.
Comment on anything you noticed about the way you have presented your results.
Patterns
Make sure you clearly explain any patterns you find.
Predict the next result in the pattern, but be careful to include:
1. How you made the predicton.
2. Proof that the prediction works.
Formula
Try to find a way that you can express the pattern that you have found using algebra. If you can do this you must:
1. Clearly explain what the letters in the formula mean.
2. Test the formula with an example to prove that it works.
