Many people take college classes online as opposed to going to class twice a week. For many this is very convenient and provides a way to manage their busy lives while still going to school. Although online classes can be very informative and provide the same information as the student would receive in the classroom, some online classes should not be taught over the internet. Such classes that should not be taught online are classes that teach students about other races and cultures.
The main reason that classes having to do with race and culture should not be taught online is because of the interaction that takes place in the classroom that cannot take place online. Students in a course that teaches about race should have to communicate in person with each other to discuss the issues at hand. In a class there a certain interaction that takes place when a group of strangers of all different backgrounds and cultures begin to discuss race. Each person in the class can bring a new light on the subject for another person. This interaction cannot take place online because of the fact that the students have no real connection to each other.
