PERSONAL GOALS

Life moves on, whether we act as a coward or heroes. Life has no other discipline to impose than to accept life unquestioningly. What seems nasty, painful, evil, hard can become a source of beauty, joy, and strength. If faced with an open mind. Every moment is a golden one for those who have the vision it as such. Life is beautiful but never easy. Like an adult learner going back to school. Because adult learners have more responsibilities compare to college students. That sometimes fulfilling one's dream becomes too difficult to achieve. But there is nothing impossible for those who believe in themselves.

I am married for 10 years to my college sweetheart; we are blessed with three wonderful sons. We moved here in the United States three years ago. At first, it was so impossible to make it. We do not have family or friends when we need something. But somehow we make it through. I got married when I was just 18 and at my first year of college talking up Bachelor of Science in Nursing. When I got pregnant I have no choice but to stop studying until I gave birth. Then, I went back to school after a year but things were different, my classmates were different. And somehow I felt embarrassed that I am left behind. I still struggle to make it happen, but fortunately I got pregnant again and this time things were different. My family is growing, my husband still in school, and so I decided that I will just work. So I end up not finishing my degree. I worked there for a couple of years until finally my husband graduate from nursing and applied for work here. Our life have changed I became a fulltime housewife, and he started working in a hospital. I enjoy my children and I love them so much but deep inside me I know I want to have a degree, and that is the time that I found out about UOP online. Here I am now hoping to overcome any obstacle that I may encounter in pursuing my degree.

My goals here at UOP are divided into two groups. I have my short-term and long-term goals. My short-term goals are:

1. I want to be familiar and master the art of studying online. Because I know my success will depend on how good I can navigate online, and make use of my resources.

2. I want to be more articulate in presenting myself. Being a Filipino I am used in expressing myself in Tagalog. That is why even we have subjects in English way back then; I must admit that I still need to learn a great deal of things so I can communicate well with my instructor and my classmates.

3. I want to learn how to manage my time well. Because with so much responsibilities at home, studying
