Plagiarism is an ever growing problem in today’s school systems, especially when one considers the availability of the internet. Many sites are dedicated to nothing more then providing essay papers for students willing to pay a small fee for a quick fix of getting a paper then actually writing one themselves.

In June of 1996 an email was sent to a number of collage fraternities and sororities across the counter actually advertising a site just for such purposes. “School Sucks.com” was responsible for sending the email stating “Download your Workload.” The Alliance for Computers and Writing (ACW) took great offence to such blatant advertisement. Kenny Sahr, the web sites founder, took the time to debate with the ACW stating that he is against plagiarism and encourages professors to visit the site to catch anyone using it for their papers. That is the reason he did not charge a fee. 1

Unlike “School Sucks.com” other sites charge a fee, and some even go so far as to publish the grade you should receive with your purchase. As well with the grade, it also offers the number of sources cited incase there is a certain number required for the assignment. Number of words, and pages also are given for the shopper to choose from. 2

Professors are becoming more and more concern with plagiarism. Sometimes it is hard to detect when plagiarism is used. With all the different papers that have been produced it would be impossible for all cases to be caught. Screening programs have now been developed in order to assist in the detection of plagiarism.
