What is a STD most ask. A STD is a sexually transmitted disease that people usually get from having sex with a person who already has one. While many can not be treated or cured there is a select few that can, such as Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, PID(pelvic inflammatory disease), Syphilis, and Trichomoniasis. Those STD's are caused by bacteria.
Some common STD's that can not be treated are Genital Herpes, Genital Warts, which is caused by the HPV virus, Hepatitis B, and AIDS. These STD's are caused by a virus, not bacteria.
STD's that are left untreated can make you very sick, and a few can even cause death. They can also make it hard for a woman to get pregnant, make a man unable to father a child, and even cause birth defects or other health problems for a newborn. Millions Of people have STD's and most get them before the age of 30. STD's are common and you can have more than one STD at a time and you can get the same STD more than once.
Most often STD's are spread by having oral, vaginal or anal intercourse with a person with a STD. Body fluids such as blood, semen, and vaginal fluids getting shared between people is another way to spread STD's. Another
