Tahoe Redevelopment
First let me say that I am in favor of Alternative D over Alternative B and my preference is for a number of reasons. Some of which are as follows:
1. Alt D will leave route 50 with the same general roadway alignment. This proposal is less environmentally disruptive and will displace fewer residents and businesses than Alt. B.
Alt D plan will NOT accommodate a commercial / low income housing unit to be built along the vacated existing roadway.
2. Tahoe Meadow residents currently have direct access to Highway 50 (Lake Tahoe Blvd). The current access is through a gate at the end of Lodge Road and does not require an easement over any privately held property to access Highway 50. With Alt. B access from Lodge Road will need to be granted through private property and will no longer be direct. I have been advised that this is not legal.
My guests and family use Lodge Road on occasion and do not want it turned into an emergency only access only like Tahoe Meadow gate across Wildwood. The entrance at Lodge Road has been used for ingress and egress for over 90 years and until 2000 was not gated
3. In 2001, when I built our home in TM, TRPA & the City of S. Lake Tahoe placed great demands and requirements on our home plans due to its situation along Highway 50, in a "scenic corridor". These conditions of
