The Fly

There once lived a lonely man. He was divorced and lived in a small, quaint house by himself. He was a hard worker that liked to come home and relax after work.

About the time he moved to his small neighborhood, there was a large outbreak of insects, specifically flies, in his area. The neighbors complained, as did he to city officials. The flies grew numerous in and out of the lonely man's house.

Deciding to take matters into his own hands, he went out and bought all the pesticides and bug killers he could find. He fogged his house and yard. He sprayed around his windows and doors. He threw granules in massive quantities out in his yard. Everything he could think of to get rid of the flies, he did.

The next day he pulls into his driveway after work to find his trees dead. The flowers had wilted and withered. The grass was brown and sickly. Dead birds littered his yard. He smiled, though, when he didn't see any pesky flies.

He opened the door to his house. Dead flies blanketed his carpets. He had victory at last. He happily vacuumed all the dead flies up and discarded the bag. He finally could relax.

He grabbed a beer out of the fridge and sat back to watch TV. BZZZZZ! Looks like he missed one. BZZZZZ! He decided to handle this one "Jackie Chan" style. He grabbed his fly swatter and chased after the fly. Every time he thought he could get it, it flew off. He knocked over lamps, dishes, and even tables trying to get to it. Exhausted, he grabbed the aerosol bug killer. He sprayed and sprayed, but the fly just wouldn't die. Finally, he gave up.
