The Strategies I will adopt to improve my Academic Performance to be Successful in College

It is possible for students to be successful without being aware of their strengths and weakness. Being a part of the Life Strategies class has taught me how important it is to recognize my own abilities. Using my intelligence in order to improve understanding of anything I study is one strategy I am mastering. Improving my academic performance will be impossible without recognizing my strengths. My three strongest abilities has to be intellectual, apprentice, and developer. Using my three strongest abilities in my everyday use gets me through college life. During this college journey I so often remind myself of the scripture 1 Corinthians 9:24. (Sooy, 2013) In the New Living Translation it states: Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! This scripture keeps me going and striving towards my goals.
Intellectual
Intellectual is one of the intelligence that help me through college. Since I am the thinking type, it is helpful for me to always think of better ways and strategies that help other people and myself. So often times while studying I try to relate the things I study to things I enjoy in my mind. This strategy is a tremendous help to many people that think more than they talk. According to Tom Roth in Strengths Finder (Rath, 2007), people who are intellectual like to exercise the muscles of your brain, stretching them in multiple directions. Most people upon meeting me for the first time may think I am a very quiet to myself person, when really I am an observer. I will observe everything in my mind for a short period of time before even speak. Sometimes this strategy gets the best of me. People are not all the same, you have to know and learn that very thing.
Apprentice
The next strategy I have adopted is being an apprentice. An apprentice has its pros and cons. During my lifetime I have always been willing to learn new things. As a student you have to have your mind open to receive from the teacher. You will never learn if you feel like you already know everything. Sometimes it is good to take the student role and learn something new. The bible states in Matthew 11:29-30 (Sooy, 2013) Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. This scripture is for many of us we so often forget that Jesus is the teacher of us all. Jesus at a young age was found in the temple teaching doctors and lawyers. So you are never too old not to learn something new.
