2. Transportation is a crucial factor in economic and social affairs. The development or the lack of transportation can really effect the economy or social standings of a country. In the 1800s, the United States had several major inovations in its transportation systems.

Boats have always been a major source of transportation around the world. In the U.S., boats used to only tranport people and cargo across the Atlantic. Then in 1817, ideas for inercontienal canals were approved in New York, by 1825, the Earie Canal was completed. Thus, allowing more boats to go inside the United States and help the trade between city to city. Steam engines were invented around the same time helpin the transport of people and products by allowin boats to go against the current.

Trails are a great means of travel. Many early Americans used trails to get from point A to point B. Trails helped expand America, thus causin the economy to change a little also the population change cause social changes too. Famous trails in use
