Trip of a Lifetime
Astrid opened the door of the shuttle that had brought her to the trip of a lifetime. And there she was, right in front of it. She stared at the opaque bricks of ice with the furry door at the bottom. From the outside, the Ice Hotel was not quite what she expected. It blended into the icy Nordic landscape almost completely isolated from the rest of the civilization. Nonetheless, she was determined to explore what was waiting for her on the inside and headed straight to the door and grabbed the antler knob. “Quite original…” - she thought as she pushed the door and caught a glimpse of the inside. Astonishing. Everything was really made of ice that reflects the light everywhere and makes everything so much more special. The center art piece that twisted and turned in its beautiful sculpted ice. A desk made out of ice appeared to the left. Astrid was mesmerized by all of it. The check-in procedures took place at that time and a bellmen leaded the way to her room. The boy was explaining everything that Astrid had available for her in the hotel, all the facilities and amenities, but she was lost in the art, the architecture, all of that experience. The only thing she heard was cracking sound of the snow under their feet as they walked through the hallways. She could not be more excited or happier than at that very moment although the freezing air filled her lungs and froze her nose. The bellmen opened the door, wished an enjoyable stay and left. Astrid stepped in and it was as time stopped on that very moment. Everything was made of ice. The coffee table, the sofa, the bed, the chandelier on the ceiling, the night stand. There was even three dimensional artwork on the walls sculpted on the icy walls. The only things that were not made of ice were the furs that covered the sofa, the ones that served as bedsheets and the pillows.
