Some of the technology used these days is very high tech. Other ways to use technology have been around for awhile. Most young people have access to most of these items.
The newest technology in cheating is called the DocuPen. The DocuPen is a scanner that is in the shape of a pen. It can scan a full page in just 4 seconds. Cheaters scan a document, and transfer the data to their cell phone using Bluetooth technology. They then send the information to a contact outside who then uses their cell phone to send them back the answers.
Calculators are another way they use technology to cheat. With an advanced calculator you can program information in it. If your calculator can't be programmed, you can always store a formula in it.
Cell phones have already been mentioned as a way to cheat, but there is more. A cheater will text message a person the answers, or by using a cordless receiver, ask or answer question into the phone. Most cell phones come equipped with a camera these days, and cheaters have found a way to utilize that too. They will use a camera phone to take a picture of the test questions, and email it to a contact outside. And just like a DocuPen, the answers are emailed back. The camera phone is also used to give answers to other students who have yet to take the test.
MP3 players are one new way that students are cheating. A lot of MP3 players can now store pictures, or files. Cheaters will store the answers in these pictures or files. They also will record a song to be played that repeats the answers over and over.
