It is different how kids perform during their games than in practice. During games, kids are placed in a position were there is pressure and nervousness which will cause them to perform badly. What I learned from reading chapter 9 is that coaches should be like a cheerleader in a game. They should advocate for the players no matter how the kids do in the game. I also learned how preparing your team for the games is important. There are no guarantees in a game that his team will win, but he can go a long way to prepare his players to deal with the predictable pressure situations in a game. The steps in preparing your team for games are to have a game plan, make adjustments, and pep talks.
Pressure is one of the important things a coach should deal with a player. It is one of the aspects that degrade oneŠfs performance, but pressure is not always a bad thing.
