Iris Van Herpen is known for creating artworks from 3D printing. She was inspired by the wilderness and nature of the human body. She makes many artworks but is very well known for her 3D printing art. She was also inspired by the idea of movement and finds inspiration through different contemporary artists such as Daniel Widrig. She finds it a dream to work with artists who inspire her. Paco Rabanne, a couturier who prefer to be described as an engineer is uses out of the ordinary materials to create his artworks. He is very talented and experiments with plastic and aluminum to create some of the most extraordinary garments of the 1960s. Rabanne’s Aluminium chainmail dress created in 1966, and Van Herpen’s Chainmail created in 2016, demonstrates the artist's most outstanding artworks.

The Aluminium chainmail garment dress creating in 1966 by Rabanne looks very delicate and and smooth. It is patterned with aluminium squares with diamond looking texture on top of the upper part of the garment laying on top of the aluminium shiny squares. The diamond looking shapes gives an effective look to the garment making it stand out to people and making it look expensive. The diamonds on the top half of the garment looks rough and sharp. The garment looks heavy with sharp looking corners on the squares, that is reflective and mirror looking. The chainmail garment by Van Herpen created in 2016 is very detailed with an effective pattern. The pattern is all over the garment with different shapes such as, flowers and triangle looking mirror like patterns. The edges of the shapes on the garment also look rough like the squares on the garment created by Rabanne.

Both of the garments are very similar with the same colour and with the same name. Van Herpen wanted to recreate a modern version of the garment but put her own style to it. Rabanne’s garment is very loose and flowy, but the garment created by Van Herpen is very fitted with a high neck that looks very claustrophobic and tight. Van Herpen’s garment looks very hard and stiff. There are shoulder pads on the shoulders make the garment look very elegant and straight.
