Alberta Environment has introduced the Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment Guideline for upstream Oil and Gas sites. Completion of the form accompanying this Guideline is required for all well sites and small upstream petroleum facilities on all lands to be assessed for reclamation certification as of July 1, 2001. Applications for certification on or after July 1, 2001 will be refused if a Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment has not been conducted. As well, Wellsite Reclamation Certificate Application Form has been revised as of March 2001. The WRC is mandatory for sites assessed as of July 1, 2001.
