Evolutionary Psychology vs. Standard Social Science Model

Evolutionary Psychology (EP) looks at how we view human behavior. The Standard Social Science Model (SSSM) is what most people have read and believed for many years. The SSSM believes that the influence on human behavior is experience and culture.

Both theories believe that there is a human nature that all people share as infants. The two models also disagree in many ways. The EP model believes that man is like all other species and is controlled by instincts to survive and fight for themselves, and that our basic human nature comes from the existence as cave men and hunters. The SSSM believes that we are born and then we grow from our experiences, environment and culture, and that biological influence on behavior and not as important. On the other hand the EP model believes that we are driven by hunger, thirst and sex.
