Krokodil drug is a it is highly addictive and harmful drug originated in the United States. It has appeared in russia since 2002. It then started to show up in Siberia and has spread throughout the whole country. It is a usually a home based drug, therefore it may contain unknown ingredients. Homemade versions of the drug usually contain codeine, gasoline, paint thinner or even lighter fluid, these hazardous fluids are “cooked” with the rest of the ingredients. The drug is more addictive than heroin. However, these ingredients are not always “cooked” fully when making krokodil. The drug is used because it is related to heroin expect the cost is cheaper Krokodil users inject the drug into their veins which can cause extreme skin conditions such as, discolored skin, infections, and scale-like skin. The drug is fast acting, though the effects and the high does not last as long as other drugs. The drug has been being made in Russia for over a decade, about one million citizens of Russia use krokodil. Krokodil may cause these health issues such as blood vessel damage, skin and soft tissue infections, open ulcers, blood poisoning, pneumonia, limb amputations, meningitis, rotting in the gum area or tooth loss, bone infections, memory loss, speech impairment, liver and kidney damage, and death.
