What I Knew
Ever since I was young, I have enjoyed the art of cooking. During holidays and special occasions, I was always willing to help out around the kitchen. Culinary Arts has always been on interest to me, but I never really thought of pursuing it into my career until just this year.
Unfortunately, I never attended vo-technical school, but I took the two culinary classes offered at Conrad Weiser. I know vo-tech isn’t needed in order to get a career in the culinary program, but it could have been on some help, I’m sure.
The classes here at Weiser really taught me a lot though. I learned about the basics of cooking, as well as different methods and tools used in the kitchen. It was through these classes that made me decide that the culinary arts were definitely part of my future.
I have sat through a few lectures and they really interested me. I remember having representatives from schools, such as The Art Institute of Philadelphia; speak to my class about the different courses offered there. On the other hand, I am really determined to attend a four-year college right after I graduate from high school. Therefore, culinary school will have to come thereafter.
One last factor that was of importance to me was cheerleading. Not only is it my hobby, it’s my passion. I plan to cheerlead in college, and whatever school I choose should have a descent squad.
