Chemically Endanger People and How to Ameliorate Them

        I agree with the statement that knowing how to read and write is more important now than it has ever been. There are many reasons that support my point of view; importance of education and rapid growth of technology.

        First of all, significance of education is getting more important. I believe that the purpose of ability to read and write is to learn and be educated. The education is more important now than in the past to succeed. In Korea, about 90 percent of the students go to university. The reason that they go to university is that they all want to get a job and earn much money in the future. Nowadays, in a society, it is absolutely necessary to be a worker and earn money, which means that if I don’t know how to read and write, I will not live the normal life. To know how to read and write is connected to education. For example, when I take a class in school, I have to read a textbook and take a note in lecture. Also, some teachers assign me an essay to write which I have to do research as well. If those things are not possibly done due to lack of abilities to read and write, I would not be able to graduate high school, which means I cannot go to university. People with less education will live more harsh and hard life than people with quality education in current society.

        Secondly, knowing how to read and write is necessarily needed in currently fast pacing society. Technology is currently growing rapidly that I cannot adapt well without language skill. Developed technology made many new inventions such as smartphones and smart television. Those inventions entertain people, give information directly, give more convenient life, and help connect with people. To use these functions and machines, I need basic language ability because I have to read the manual to control them. For example, when iPhone first came out, I was not familiar to such gadget, so I didn’t buy it. However, my friends utilized well to those phones to play games, surf internet, and keep in touch with others. I couldn’t get in to them because I didn’t know how to use them. Afterwards, I searched the internet and read books to learn how to use the smart phone, and I finally was able to use it, which made me feel connected with my friends and my life more conveniently. This was not possible if I didn’t know how to read and write.
