Faith.....what exactly is faith? Well I went and looked up the actual definition of the word and it has 14 different technical listings which most do not differ in great detail. But the first listing is, "confidence or trust in a person or thing." The second definition says "belief that is not based on truth." And the third one that I am going to talk about is "belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion." Now I'm sure most of you sitting here today had a pretty good idea of what that word already meant. However I'm going to speak in detail about each one and how they tie in to our everyday lives and also our relationship with God.

I’m going to speak about the first definition about confidence or trust in a person. This can hold true to any type of everyday activity that you may do where other people are involved. For example, I had a class in college that was called communicating in the professions and we had to compile information about particular subjects and present it to the class. I was in a group of 3 people. Each person had a particular job they had to do on their own and then we’d meet together and put all our information together. If one person did not do their job then the whole group was punished because it was not an individual grade so therefore I had to show faith in my team members to know they were each going to do what they were supposed to do and do it well. This also holds true to the church congregation. Each member has to have faith and confidence in Carolyn that she is going to fulfill her duties as a pastor. Which I believe has defiantly been the case so far. In turn, she has to believe in us as a congregation/session that each of us will do the necessary things it is that makes the church run and run well.

Moving on to the second definition that says faith is a belief that is not based on proof. I’m sure there are people in there world that think Jesus is not a real person and the Bible was just made up by a random person. Let’s say there is a person living in a very secluded area of the world and has never heard the word of God in any shape form or fashion. His particular form of religion is based on worshiping a statue and that’s all he knows and has ever known. Well one day the word
