See You At The Poll is an event that takes place at schools across north America and more than twenty countries. It’s where students gather around their flag poll outside of school hours and pray. It is not a formal event, but more of a prayer meeting. Also they don’t just pray, some people sing worship songs, and some people read the Bible.

It all started back in 1990. On April 6th in Burleson, Texas. A group of teens got together for a discipleship retreat. Later that night they felt the urge to got to three schools and pray around the flagpoles for their friends and the students that attended the school’s. there were also other groups that were having similar prayer meetings at their school’s. this sparked a vision in youth leaders across Texas.

The vision was that students throughout Texas would follow these examples and meet at their school flagpoles to pray simultaneously. They called it See You At The Pole and issued the challenge to 20,000 students in June 1990 at the Reunion Arena in Dallas, Texas. Well, I guess u can say the vision came true on September 12, 1990, at 7:00am. well over 45,000 teens got together at their flagpoles in four different states and prayed before school started. A few months after that a group of youth pastors from all over the U.S. got together for a national conference in Colorado. The majority of them gave reports that their youth heard about the prayer movement that was going on in Texas, and that they too felt the same burden for their school’s and classmates. Their were no other events planned, but that wouldn’t stop the student’s from starting their own national day of prayer.

This movement of prayer was started in the heart of God. This is why it is so important to listen and obey God. If that small group of teens were not obedient to what God had laid on their hearts then what happened

on September 11, 1991, at 7:00am may have never happened

. On that day over one million students got together at their flagpoles all over the U.S. from Boston to L.A. the students came together to pray. Like the first small group did, they prayed for their schools, their friends, leaders, and their country. Since 1991, See You At The Pole has grown. In 1998 well over 3 million students from all 50 states take part in See You At The Pole. Also in over 20 countries such as Canada, Guam, Korea, Japan, Turkey, Australia and the Ivory Coast, students are meeting the challenge and meeting at their flagpoles for prayer.

These groups range in size from one student to several hundred. These events are monitored by the National Network of Youth Ministries. Each See You At The Pole meeting is sponsored, organized and led by local students at each school that takes part.

I would just like to look at Matthew 6:5-6 it says 5"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father,
