I chose the NOSTRA AETATE declaration. It discusses the relationship

of the Church with Non-Christians, which was proclaimed by Pope Paul VI.

The people of the world are getting closer as time progresses and

strengthening their bonds. The Church is now looking closer to the

relations between Catholics and Non-Catholics, in order to help continue

this transition of peace.

People look to religions to find answers to unanswerable questions.

They ask questions such as: ”What is man? What is the meaning, the aim

of our life? What is moral good, what sin? Whence suffering and what

purpose does it serve? Which is the road to true happiness? What are

death, judgment and retribution after death? What, finally, is that ultimate

inexpressible mystery which encompasses our existence: whence do we

come, and where are we going?” We also share the belief, no mater what

religion, that there is a supreme power behind the senses of human life. In

Hinduism people explore the divine mystery and express it both in the

limitless riches of myth and the accurately defined insights of philosophy.

They seek freedom from the trials of the present life by ascetical practices,

deep meditation and recourse to God in confidence and love. Buddhism in

its different forms testifies to the essential lack of this changing world. It

proposes a way of life by which people can, with confidence and trust,

attain a state of perfect liberation and reach supreme enlightenment, either

through their own efforts or with divine help. So other religions which are

found throughout the world attempt in different ways to overcome the

restlessness of people's hearts by outlining a program of life covering

doctrine, moral precepts and sacred rites.

The church has also a high regard for the Muslims. They worship God,

who is one, living and subsistent, merciful and almighty, the Creator of

heaven and earth, who has also spoken to humanity. They attempt to

submit themselves without reserve to the unseen
