In this Experiment, we used Hydrochloric Acid and Magnesium to make Hydrogen. The whole purpose was to make it and test it. So once we put the magnesium in the test tube filled with hydrochloric acid, a chemical reaction took place. As the magnesium was dissolving the acid was warming up. The hydrochloric acid is a clear liquid and is also a transparent. The Magnesium is a silver colored ribbon. As it was dissolving the chemical reaction was building a pressure on my thumb. Which was a sign that is was making Hydrogen. There was a little frizzy which also should a chemical reaction. Once there magnesium was gone, which stood the same color of clear liquid, it was time to test it. As we placed the lit match on top of test tube there was no pop. But you could still see the smoke going down to the bottom, which where the acid is at, of the test tube. Hydrogen, which is very flammable, is the lightest gas and is used to make ammonia, methanol, gasoline, heating oil, and rocket fuel.

Some observation I noticed during the lab was the pressure that was acting on my thumb when the magnesium was dissolving into the acid to make the Hydrogen. Another one is the bubbling that was happening in the test tube. In addition to that, the acid was getting a bit warmer as the magnesium was dissolving. These are all signs of a chemical reaction. The reason I know that there was a chemical reaction taking place is because of the way magnesium reacted toward the Hydrochloric
