Objectives:
- To observe and record the effect of changing the concentration of a reactant on the rate of a reaction
- To observe and record the effect of changing the temperature of a system on the rate of a reaction
- To observe and record the effect of the nature of the reactants on the rate of a reaction
- To observe and record the effect of a catalyst on the rate of a reaction
Materials:
Apparatus Reagents
2 Beakers (100mL) Solution A: 0.02M KIO3 (potassium iodate)
2 graduated cylinders (10mL) Solution B: 0.002M NaHSO3 (sodium bisulfite)
10 test tubes (18mm x 150mm) (also containing 4g of starch and 12mL of 1M H2SO4/L)
thermometer 0.02M KMnO4 (potassium permanganate)
4 beakers (250mL) 0.1M FeSO4 (Iron(II)sulfate)
2 medicine droppers 0.1M Na2C2O4 (sodium oxalate)
ice 0.1M MnSO4 (manganese(II)sulfate)
6 test tubes (13mm x 100mm) 1M H2SO4
lab apron
safety goggles
