Throughout my travels for hockey I have been in almost every direction from Bloomfield hills. It really opens my eyes to see the differences in landscape and environment through different locations. Places like Toronto and New York are cluttered with high rises, cars, and industrial facilities; While South Carolina, California and areas north of flint have far more vegetation and wildlife present.
When I take a walk around my neighborhood I always see different animals; Deer, squirrels, birds, frogs, and raccoons. Just to see that much wildlife around a one square mile block is rare in many areas of the world. I always imagined if I had lived in New York, I would see pigeons and rats. I would never have seen the plant and animal life that I do living in Bloomfield Hills. Another big piece of the picture is the beautiful lakes and rivers around this area. I would not have the privilege of having nice lakes, streams, and ponds in the area if I had been raised in New York.
I always wonder that if I had been born and raised in an area with limited wildlife what would my outlook on the environment be? Do kids in the inner-city see more or less concern for preserving the environment then kids in the country? I will always see the need to respect
