Before taking this survey I have to admit I was somewhat skeptical. How by answering these questions on an internet survey can I determine not only what kind of person I really am, but how happy I am? Is that possible? See, I feel like I for the most part know the strengths and weaknesses of my personality very well. I think I am a very kind, generous person. Another thing is that I forgive easily, but to me I look at that as a weakness; people just walk all over me and take advantage. As the last few years have flown by me, I have experienced the best and worst times of my life so far, and I have come to the conclusion that the only person who can make a person genuinely happy is themselves. As controversial as this issue is, my personal opinion is that a person who is settled, has their life in order, is a healthy, happy person. Someone who is productive with their life will fell happy, and I say these things from personal experience. About a year ago I was severely depressed and literally stopped caring about everything in my life; school, family, friends, and even myself. It only made things worst. I know growing up is hard for everybody, but I just did not know how to handle it. It took me a long time to become depressed, and a long time to get out of depression. Do you know when I started to feel better about myself, when I stopped cocooning myself from the rest of the world. When I went and got a job and started going back to school is when

I started doing well again. I thought to myself “ Michelle you can do this”, I went from being this miserable person to this well grounded, happy person. Everyone noticed the change. I specifically remember being in the car with my friend Christina, and I was putting my makeup on and I was humming to myself. My friend looked at me and smiled and she said, “Michelle, look how happy you are you’re humming to yourself”, and I said “I know”. I love feeling like that, I felt really happy. From around that time until today I’ve realized that I do not want to waste my life, I don’t want to sleep it away because I am depressed. Outside of my room there is a beautiful world of happiness and opportunity waiting for me, and who am I to take that for granted.

According to the survey, my top five signature strengths are:

1-Judgement, critical thinking open mindness

2-Kindness and generosity

3-Social intelligence

4-Capacity to love and be loved

5-Forgivemess and mercy

1-I am an extremely open-minded person. I can never hear one side of a story and not the other. Even if someone is completely wrong, you have to think of t from their perspective, we don’t live in a perfect world. People make bad decisions and wrong choices; that doesn’t make them less of a person. You have to really get to know a person before you know if they can keep it real.

2-I love to do things for people, I actually get joy out of it. I am the farthest thing from cheap. I’ll spend all the money I have in my pocket to do things with my friends all the time. I love paying for things for them, I really don’t know why though. It really does just make me happy. People greatly appreciate things like that and it shows character. Like always said, “kill them with kindness”.

3-It is important to know how to act and what to say in specific situations. It is also always important to consider other before stating an opinion, because we live in a very diverse, opinionated society. In any situation, no matter what you should always be polite, classy, and real. Who likes a phony or someone who acts rude?

4-It is true. I really do value the people who are true to me in my life. I love to feel loved, I love affection and I love giving it. I am warm-hearted and I love to really connect with people. Family is the most important thing in life, and friends are chosen family. These are the people who will always be there for you no matter what you do, and look past your flaws and wrongdoing. Everyone wants to be loved,
