Tornadoes are Earth’s most violent storms. They are very deadly. Tornadoes and the threat of them are a key part of the U.S.A’s spring weather. But tornadoes can occur anytime of the year. The F-scale is the most common scale used when rating a tornado, but they are trying no to use it anymore. Many tornadoes form when warm air meets cold and dry air. There are many things people can do to stay safe during a tornado such as; go to a basement, or don’t go near windows, and also get in a bathtub. Tornadoes can cause damage anytime, anywhere.
The original F-scale was the only widely used tornado rating for three decades. Tornadoes are ranked by the damage they do using the six-tiered Fujita scale. F0 and F1 are considered weak and cause minimal to moderate damages. F2 and F3 tornadoes are considered strong, with some winds of 113-206 mph that can cause major damage. F4 and F5 are violent tornadoes with winds up to 206 mph. The damage can be extreme.
Tornadoes form by warm Gulf air meets cold Canadian air and dry air from the Rockies. Many tornadoes do not form by warm fronts, cold fronts, and dry lines. Not every thunderstorm has a tornado. Most tornadoes occur from rotating thunderstorms
