Choices
Who would you blame if you had a gun pointed in your face and lived to tell about it, the gun or the person holding the gun? This is one of the questions this paper made me ask myself. I found that I was mostly a republican, but on a couple I lean more towards the democratic side. On two of these issues I found that I am in the middle and agree with both sides, like on welfare and
Illegal Drugs: should be legal.
· Republicans: do not believe we should be able to do something that harms our body.
· Democrats: believe it’s a choice that Americans’ can make there own decisions.
· I think that we should legalize marijuana and sell it in selected stores and regulate how much one person can buy and use the money to get rid of other drugs.
· It will change the nation as a whole, but we will be getting money off of it.
Forgin Policy: I believe we must protect our allies and ourselves by any means possible.
· Republicans: believe we should protect allies and ourselves by any means possible.
· Democrats: safety and freedom for US. Not for helping allies.
· I think that we should always protect ourselves by all means possible with out question. If we can’t protect ourselves why are we so free?
· This is what we are doing right now and I agree with it 100 percent.
National Defense and Terrorism: terrorism is never going to end, but we need to do our best to stop it.
· Republicans: spread democracy in Middle East and around the world, seek and protect peace.
· Democrats: focus on preventing terrorism, want to cut terrorism spending, and want to educate the Muslim youth in the Middle East.
· On this issue I agree with the republican side more because they are the reason right now we are fighting terrorism. I believe that if we had a democratic president he would of just turned his head and just mourned the situation of 9-11.
Assisited sudcide: playing god is wrong but if someone is going to die a painful death they should be able to have the choice to end there life.
· Republican: playing god wrong and should not be in the hands of humans.
· Democrats: if the person is going to die due to an illness they should have the choice to end there life.
· With this issue I’m stuck in the middle. I think playing god is not our job as humans; well on the other hand, I also think if I had a terminal illness or someone in my family did I wouldn’t want them to go threw all the pain if the were going to die no matter what.
· Its wrong but I think that it is okay in some instants.
Education: we need to stop basing education on test but on performance in the class room.
· Republicans: the no child left behind act has been good for the American youth.
· Democrats: don’t agree with the no child left behind act.
· The no child left behind act has added to many tests to the education system. I don’t think test are the best way to determine how the youth of America is doing in school. One student can be the smartest kid in the class and be a horrible test taker, and the worst student could just get lucky and get better scores on the test.
· Test put to much pressure on students.
Crime: the death penalty is a system that I believe gives some felons an easy way out.
· Republicans: support death penalty.
· Democrats: against death penalty and say it is like terrorism.
· The death penalty is for convicted felonies that have done committed crimes in the worst degree. I believe that the death penalty is good, but I also believe in some cases it is not enough. Someone who kill an 8 year old boy should die a slow, painful death.
· Death row has a waiting line of 10 years and 111 innocent people have been executed that
