There is one certain problem with contemporary culture that will have disastrous effects on our next generations. The wild party attitudes of some of Hollywood’s most media friendly celebrities like Brittany Spears, Lindsey Lohan, and even Paris Hilton are setting destructive examples for the little girls who idolize them. Constant coverage of these women in the news spreads the details of these deeds to the younger population, who become exposed to the idea that their heroes are partying and doing drugs and they are alright, and even until Paris Hilton’s conviction they always got a lax punishment. The children of today are our future leaders and they are exposed to all of that trashy, self-destructive behavior through news media. With the minds of children being so easily molded by what they see on television, there should be even more concern in the world today about what will happen to those kids, especially the girls, in the future.

I am sick of turning on the television and only hearing about Brittany Spears losing her children instead of the actions of the presidential candidates. The news media has their priorities very skewed and seem to underestimate the intelligence of their viewers. Of course, one can understand their situation. Adult’s lives have become so routine that any relief, be it news media about a struggling mother or another sex scandal, would be welcomed to ease the pain of a boring life.

Though those adults don’t seem to realize the effects this is having on the younger kids. I think it is so sad when I remember how much I idolized Lindsey Lohan when I was younger. Kids today are exposed to pictures of their heroes with shaved heads going into rehab clinics, and the amount of attention these stars get is promoting the idea in children’s heads that it is alright and they should do it to. I often find myself worrying about the world and it’s future, especially now with the leaders of that future exposed to sex scandals and the like at such a young age. It makes me doubt
