Development and Pefection of Social Contract in China
DEVELOPMENT AND PEFECTION OF SOCIAL CONTRACT IN CHINA
As the second biggest economic powerhouse, China are devoting to change itself
not only in the economic area but also in the area of the relationship between the
government and the people. Measures regarding to social contract that Chinese
government takes should be considered. Meanwhile, steps regarding to support the
operation of the government should to stride forward by individuals. This essay will
put forward some ideas about it. The process of democracy will be discussed as
well.
Chinese unique democracy is dependent upon its special national conditions
compared with western countries. Over the past 40 years, the greatest economic
progress has been made in China. The government starts to pay attention to the
democracy and human rights. Chinese citizens are demanding it in pace with
Ideological Awakening. According to Martin Jacuqes(2016), the Chinese
government is recognized likely as the member of the family and even the head of
the family. The the Communist Party of China win the civil war and led people to
establish new country under the banner of democracy. Although it quite different
from the west, it is normal. Every theory from west would be change if it is spread
to east due to distinct national conditions. Confucianism has existed since two
thousand and had a deep impress on Chinese citizens. This ideology claim that the
ruling class should insist the policy of benevolence. The government should follow
and cherish people and the people should support the government in turn.
Furthermore, Confucianism is deeply rooted in the heart of people, and its
correctness is above suspicion in China. On the other hand, Marxism has spread
into and took root in China over past one hundred. Therefore, the government
should not process democracy by western approach.
From the view of west, the level of democracy is the the standard of evaluation to
politics. Westerners tend to think that Chinese government has not practised
democracy. However, the democracy in China is different from the west. The
Chinese citizens treat government as a patriarch instead of the target of criticism
that westerners usually do due to the historical development of government
authority. To some extent, achieving economic growth does not require democratic
background. XZBU(2012a) states that development of democracy is not the
ultimate goal. Since the 1990s, western political scholars have gradually
transferred from the center of gravity on the possibility of democratic political
transition in to the study on the different situations in different countries. At the
same time, a growing number of developing countries have gradually realized that
the development of democratic politics is not the ultimate goal. More importantly,
should consider coordination, local society, economic and political, historical and
cultural traditions and effective operation so as to improve the governance
performance and democracy. In other words, the development of democracy is not
only a single and fixed pattern.
It is important to understand the special context of the democracy in china. The rise
of process of China differ from west. More than 150 years ago, centralism was
regard as the guarantee of prosper in the views of most people. The then
government had supreme power.
