Reasons for voting no in referendums (France + Netherlands)

пЃ¶ Class issues, manual workers tended to vote against the EU

пЃ¶ Education, those who had stayed in education till the age of 21 or more, were more inclinded to be EU leaning.

Remember, there will always be die hard pro and anti EU voters.

Reasons for voting YES….

пЃ¶ Strengthen the position of France and Netherlands within the EU and the world at large.

пЃ¶ Essential to pursue European integration.

 Improve their own country’s economy and security sectors.

Democracy

• Democracy is the relationship between the state and the individuals.

• It is also the procedural protection for civilians and also minorities.

• In divided societies, 51% is perhaps not sufficient for action to be taken. All minorities needs to be heard and agree to future laws (easier said than done). We take it for granted that society is divided. Elite agreement should represent the groups within that given society.
