ABSTRACT
The study focuses on exploring the library users from various courses in Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology. It utilizes a descriptive research design using both quantitative and qualitative method since the results of the interview is descriptively discussed in this study. The secondary data taken from the Library is utilized. These are the Daily Entrance Statistics from the various courses regardless of population. This study reveals that in the month of August and September, Teacher Education tops the graph. During the month of October until March, it was found out that Junior High School has the highest number of visit. Thus, the variation in the number of library user based on various courses regardless of the population is evident that is affected by different factors such as lack of books, outdated references, as well as slow internet connection. Hence, the administration should address the problems arising from the study that would lead to designing a policy relative to maximizing the utilization of library.
Keywords: Library users, various courses
- Introduction
Libraries are essential storage of knowledge. One of its primary purposes is to provide substantial information for the users that is supported by Ehikhamenor (1990), Ifidon (1997), Lubans (1998), and Adelani, (2002). The authors agreed on the need to provide information for all categories of users. In fact, these could help individuals improve their academic performances. Accordingly, students who are actively participating the class, often write and read books are regular library user (William, 1995). However, not all students are regular library user and in fact, there are those who didn’t even recognize a library as it is. This study focuses on exploring the library users from various courses in Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology. This study specifically seeks to identify the number of library users from different courses in college as well as junior and senior high school.
Library clients are fulfilled when the library is ready to give quality administration. Research shows that there were bigger differences on how students use the library of various courses that is supported by Escola (1998). This could be caused by the differences on the learning style, or mode of acquiring knowledge and/or cause by physical factors such as availability of resources in the library. Kuh and Gonyea (1995) noticed that "the library is the physical sign of the center esteems and exercises of scholastic life. Moreover, Ory and Braskamp's initial review exhibited that support in scholarly exercises (which included library encounters) was tolerably associated with understudies' increases in basic deduction skills. Correspondingly, Whitmire (2008) found that understudies occupied with more engaged library exercises revealed huge effects on their basic intuition skills. Different reviews have inspected the relationship between library utilization, understudy learning and engagement; for instance, Nelson, Laird and Kuh (2000) found that investment in data and library-related exercises (for instance, utilizing the library site to discover scholastic assets, approaching custodians for help, and so forth.) were reasonably connected with understudy engagement in different ranges.
Several studies have been conducted regarding library use in various universities and colleges in which main focus is evaluation on the library services. However, the number of users of various courses has not been widely studied particularly in Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology. Thus, in this study, a survey on the number of library users of various courses is conducted.
Conceptual Framework
NMSCST Library offers several services for the students in various courses like Teacher Education, Industrial Technology, Information Technology, BS Mathematics, HRST and Agriculture including Junior and Senior High School. Each student who visits the library is evaluated through tally using the Daily Entrance Statistics. This shows the number of library users in various courses regardless of population.

Methodology
This study applies descriptive design with survey as its method in evaluating the number of library users. Respondents were library users of various courses in NMSCST. Secondary data was taken from the NMSCST library staff. An interview was also conducted from selected students in each course. The graph on the number of users was used to express the value of the data gathered. The data were then interpreted as to what course has the most and least number of library users.
