Pollution is when water, air or land becomes very dirty. Pollution can come in 3 different types effecting different types of areas in the world. Air pollution affects the air, water pollution affects the water and marine life, land pollution affects the land destroying life and the environment. We all contribute to pollution in some way or another. Whether it is with a large amount or small amount we can still cause major damage to our health and the environment. Pollution is an important factor to our lives. It involves our society and all other animals. Pollution is gradually destroying our planet and is gradually killing ourselves too. Like air pollution, smog and acid rain is a killer to all of us. It destroys marine life, our own health and destroys historical monuments and statues.

Air pollution is a major health issue, peoples who are affected more die from chronic effects. Air pollution is a major problem affecting the entire world especially when we start burning forests which are the main source to oxygen (O2). Air pollution is very harmful it is destructive to living organs. The air is made of mainly of oxygen and nitrogen but it also contains tiny amounts of other gasses such as carbon dioxide, hydrogen and helium. Most of it is nitrogen. The air in many parts is not fit to breath.

Air pollution is cause because of the increasing amount of cars in Malaysia also has lent a hand in the pollution. Furthermore, excess poisonous gases and heat are emitted daily (you should know the rest). Open air burning, despite it being banned by law, has not been heeded by the people of Malaysia. Burning is also the only way right now to get rid of the excess rubbish. Smoke and heat is released. Furthermore, the government should launch the Air Quality Strategy. It sets out air quality targets for the main air pollutants, which each local authority has to work towards. 'Air Quality Management Areas' have to be declared if pollution is forecast to exceed standards set by the government to protect human health.

In addition, WET AIR is an air pollution control solutions provider. Over the years, the Company has developed a wealth of expertise in the technical and economic evaluation of air pollution problems. WET AIR is continuously undertaking Research and Development activities to meet the increasingly stringent environmental standards in the area of air pollution control. WET AIR applies leading-edge technologies in solving air pollution problems like Cyclone Collectors, Axial Flow Vortex Filters, Condensers, Wet Collectors, Fabric Filter, Catalytic Converters and etc.

Water pollution

Water covers 70% of the earth and only 3% of fresh water. 1% of fresh water and 2% of frozen fresh water. Pollution is a major cause to life. It impacts on marine life and is a major impact to life in the whole world.

The rivers have become a tourist attraction and this has prompted the construction of hotels and resorts around the area. As a result, many of the forests surrounding the river areas have been chopped down. The surrounding soils have no roots to hold on to and soon erode when the rains come. The soil runs into the rivers and soon the rivers become murky and shut out all the sunlight from reaching the aquatic life in the rivers and streams. This causes them to die.

As Malaysia is fast becoming an industrial country, many of her rivers have become polluted due to the many wastes that have been poured out into her rivers. Such as the paper making industry, it requires chemicals, often poisonous in its production. The rivers are used as an outlet for the chemicals to drain away, in turn harming the waters and the lives that revolve around them.

A good example is the construction of a new golf course near the waterfall at tourist attraction Fraser’s Hill in the state of Pahang, causing it to become extremely murky and dirty due to the silt and sand that comes from the construction. The waterfall which has been the centre point of the hill has now lost all its attraction just because of the overwhelming need to attract more tourists to the place by building more facilities.

Subsequently, we are slowly but surely harming our planet to the point where organisms are dying at a very alarming rate. In addition to innocent organisms dying off, our drinking water has become greatly affected as is our ability to use water for recreational purposes. In order to combat water pollution, we must understand the problems and become part of the solution. Water pollution also occurs when rain water runoff from urban and industrial areas and from agricultural land and mining operations makes its way back to receiving waters (river, lake or ocean) and into the ground.
