“Shut Down Your Screen Week”

Albert Einstein once said, “I fear the day that technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots.” Albert Einstein’s quote brings me across my point that technology is starting to rule our world, especially smart phones. FHS should participate in the “Shut Down Your Screen Week” because smart phones are distracting, addicting, and controlling to teens.

Smart phones are distracting to teens in several different ways. The time it is most distracting is when they are texting and driving, which they risk their lives. In addition, “More than 3,300 people have died and 420,000 are injured anuallly in car crashes attributed to distracted drivers”(Halsey III 1). Many crashes are caused because teens do not understand the risk of texting and driving. Also, smart phones keep them for doing their school work.
