First of all, I must clearly state that this is an opinion piece. I am not a scientist. I
will have little other random websites as a backup for any claims I make. I however to the
best of my ability, will avoid making false claims which may discredit my work or myself.
Global Warming, such a scary notion. When ever I bother to turn on that cesspool known as
the television, I'm often bombarded with commercials from some Discovery Channel
documentary on what Global Warming will due to us all, and how it's mankind's fault. Over
and over. They make it pretty clear that we're all going to die. Shortly, and it's entirely
our fault. That out mutilation on nature is coming back to slaughter our entire species, as
well as many others that walk this world. Imagine explaining that one to a god. Well sorry
man, I sorta had a bad habit of leaving the lights on when I left home. Seriously though,
are these incessant scare tactics accomplishing anything, besides drawing masses in to two
hour long documentaries that few people would normally watch?
Scare tactics is a commonly propaganda technique. Well according to the Merriam-Webster
Online Dictionary, this is actually a form of terrorism[1]. Our government is obviously not
waging their so called war, very well.
But before I allow myself get consumed by that tangent, let me continue. So Global Warming
is going to melt the ice caps, which will drown most of those, then result in an Ice Age.
Again I am no scientist, but how is Global Warming going to lead straight to an ice age?
Whatever, I'll hold my skepticism for a few paragraphs. Global Warming will destroy out
crops and before killing us, should make life unbearable. And um kill some animals of some
shit like that. I don't know, all I know is that we are all going to die. And it's our own
fault, right?
Well let us look at the causes of Global Warming. Green houses gases! Well it turns out
most scientists aren't sure. The main gases supposedly responsible include Carbon Dioxide
and Methane gas. It seems that Methane gas is more harmful than Carbon Dioxide to our
atmosphere[2]. And apparently cows produce more Methane gas than mankind does[3]. But it
also seems that termites may release more Methane gas than both mankind and cattle
combined.
And we're constantly being told that this has been building since the Industrial
Revolution. That much can be disproved by the many scientists who cried wolf over Global
Cooling in the 70's. Such a quote was made by Lowell Ponte in 1976: "It is a cold fact: the
Global Cooling presents humankind with the most important social, political, and adaptive
challenge we have had to deal with for ten thousand years. Your stake in the decisions we
make concerning it is of ultimate importance; the survival of ourselves, our children, our
species[5]"
And accordign to these "factoids" water is what's gonna kill us all:
* Water vapour is responsible for 95 per cent of the greenhouse effect
* Carbon Dioxide only contributes 3.6% to the greenhouse effect
* Of that 3.6%, only 3.2% is contributed by man[6]
And according to www.dailytech.com, NASA suffered from the Y2K Problem[7]
* There were random unaccountable jumps in temperature data within the United States
starting around January 2000
* Those jumps
