Technology allows a company to continue day-to-day operations as well allow them to handle any growth they may incur. As Alienware is in a highly competitive market space they must implore newer technologies that will allow them to not only keep up with the competition but also provide something more. By using technology to support the company’s core competencies they will be better able to do what they do best as well as flourish in their market.
Alienware is best known for the quality of computers they assemble. There are many different areas that help them maintain this objective and through the use of technology they will be able to not only maintain but grow. Because the majority of the components that are used are not manufactured by Alienware, a robust inventory management system is necessary. By using this system Alienware is able to keep inventory at a level that will allow them to create as many systems as they need to but not be burdened with too much stock. If Alienware carries too much stock of an item it not only takes up warehouse space but they could also be stuck with the item after they no longer sell it. By keeping the appropriate level of stock they will be better suited to sell all of the items they keep on hand as well as order newer parts when they are available.
When customers place orders they like to know what is going on with their order and when they can expect to receive it. With this in mind Alienware needs to maintain an advanced order management system that keeps track of the status of the order from the time the order is placed to when it is shipped. By providing this
