Effects of Technology Writing Essay
Technology is more accessible now than just 20 years ago. Now we are able to get online on our personal computers or laptops. We don’t have to be at a library, or even hooked up to a cord, we have the capability to go “wireless”. We can write with others and get a response back quickly whether it be on an “Instant Message” or an “E-Mail”. We can search books, periodicals, and newspapers in a matter of seconds. “Following commercialisation and introduction of privately run Internet Service Providers in the 1980s, and its expansion into popular use in the 1990s, the Internet has had a drastic impact on culture and commerce. When I was ten (20 years ago), we didn’t have computers at home, let alone a laptop. We didn’t have internet accessibility. If I wanted to write someone, I would write on a piece of paper and mail it with a stamp on an envelope. It would take days if not weeks to get a response back. If I was doing a project for school, I would have to go to the school or city library. We didn’t have internet at the library at that time that I know of.
Technology has made things easier for me to complete different things in my life. I use the internet for work, school, and personal use.
At my office, one thing we help with is employment training where we help people find work and give them some skills for their employment. Many of the jobs we get from the paper, but we can also get from multiple listings online such as the Oregon Employment Department at http://www.employment.oregon.gov/EMPLOY/ES/JOB/index.shtml, Snag A Job at http://www.snagajob.com/jobs/Oregon_jobs.html, Monster.com at http://location.monster.com/us/oregon/, etc. And becoming a new trend is the online job applications. LOWES, the Lebanon School District, Wal-Mart, and many other businesses require you to apply online using their online application. You cant just go to the business and turn in a resume or even pick up
